Benefits of creating a full 3D mesh

What are the benefits of creating a full 3D mesh verses a regular grid mesh?  Does it provide greater detail in surface models such as when exporting a surface model to AutoCAD?

Hey Steve,

For export to Autocad always create a Regular grid mesh. Regular grid mesh is a 2.5D data type - meaning that for one x,y position there can be only one point on the z.

Full 3D mesh is a full 3D surface, meaning that you can have multiple points for one x,y position. For example, a full 3D mesh can have some ground, some wall and some roof for specific x,y point, while 2.5D mesh would only have ground.

What is most important for you, Autocad civil 3D does not allow importing full 3D mesh models. you can only work with 2.5 D meshes.
